木寺昌人从6篇一等奖作文中钦选出特等奖(又称“日本大使奖”)，获奖者为国际关系学院日语翻译在读研究生李敏，她的作文题目为《如歌的纸牌》，讲述自己学习日本传统文化和歌纸牌《小仓百人一首》的体会。
“像歌曲一样，是能唱出来的作文”，木寺昌人夸道。他表示，一等奖的每篇作品都很优秀，他为中国各地正致力于学习日语的学子而感动。“我知道大家或许也在担心未来的出路，但我坚信肯定会是友好的，我愿与大家一起努力”，他说，他与在座学子约定，要“用所学日语发挥良好作用，成为两国之间的友谊之桥”。
成为“友谊之桥”是不少参赛学生所持的梦想。一等奖获奖者、来自首都师范大学三年级的赵思蒙表示要在毕业后成为一名翻译家。
全国政协委员潘庆林亦在仪式上呼吁，称中国与日本均为现今使用汉字的国家，难能可贵，“我们要用心维护两个国家的友谊”。
