76年前的12月13日，侵华日军攻陷南京城，对中国平民、战俘犯下大规模屠杀、抢掠、强奸等战争罪行。
据远东国际军事法庭、南京军事法庭的有关判决和调查，在大屠杀中有20万以上乃至30万以上中国平民、战俘被日军杀害，南京城被日军大肆纵火和抢劫，致使南京城被毁三分之一。
初冬清晨，空气干冷而清冽，数千人从各处赶来，在位于南京城西的侵华日军南京大屠杀遇难同胞纪念馆广场上参加和平集会。
纪念馆所在地，就建在当年侵华日军“万人坑”遗址之上。
从1994年起，南京市民开始在每年12月13日举行集体悼念活动。随后的每一年，人数规模逐渐庞大，如今，数千人参加和平集会已是常态。
然而每年出现的面孔都不同：有越来越多的国际和平人士参与，有新认定为南京大屠杀幸存者的老者，也有幸存者因年事过高而相继离世。
84岁的夏淑琴老人又站在人群中。76年前，夏淑琴全家祖孙九口人中七口遭日军杀害，但是她只有8岁。5年前，她因反诉日本右翼作者侵权案二审胜诉，被称为“勇敢的老人”。
当日，江苏省、南京市官员，驻宁部队代表，江苏省及南京市相关部门、民主党派、工商联、群众团体负责人，南京市学生代表，南京大屠杀幸存者和遇难者家属代表，中国人民解放军指战员，武警官兵代表，中国有关纪念馆、博物馆代表，美国、菲律宾、日本、韩国等国友好团体、友好人士代表，约五千人人参加悼念仪式。
同一天，南京市民还将分别在普德寺、北极阁、燕子矶、中山码头、五台山、草鞋峡等侵华日军南京大屠杀遇难同胞纪念碑所在地设立分会场，举行悼念活动。(完)
