　　嫦娥三号落月区域锁定虹湾区。这里通讯、日照条件较好，地形相对平坦，此前的人类探测器从未造访。嫦娥二号曾对这一区域进行了超高分辨率立体成像，为嫦娥三号软着陆成功“探路”。尽管如此，月石、月坑、壕沟等局部未知地貌，仍然可能对软着陆造成影响。
