随着新社交平台、社交软件的冲击，更多卖家开始尝试到社交平台拿流量。淘宝集市被动沦为一个展示产品的网站，买家卖家在社交平台上展示产品，沟通购买，削弱了阿里在B2C中小卖家电商集市主导地位，如果良性循环一旦形成，将难于绞杀，淘宝集市流量大降。
有专家表示，淘宝一方面想靠大量中小卖家聚集流量和人气，再将这些免费获得的流量高价出售给B店的大卖家获利；另一方面无法提供给这些中小卖家充足的流量维持生存，自然会导致两个群体、甚至是淘宝和天猫两个平台之间的矛盾不可调和。
