北京时间12月16日下午，国内领先的智能手机厂商华为在北京798艺术中心正式宣布华为荣耀品牌独立，并同时发布了华为荣耀3C/3X两款新机及无线路由器“喵王”。发布会后，华为技术有限公司高级副总裁余承东接受了媒体的群访。
在发布会举办地确定北京798的消息曝光后，就有不少媒体和网友猜测华为是否会借助这一数字发布798元的产品，发布会上这一猜测得到了印证。显然，华为荣耀3C出众性能表现+798元的售价让人不由得联想到另外一款千元热机——红米手机。在红米手机已经树立千元价位良好口碑的前提下，如何成功实现“虎口夺食”成为关注热点。
对于这一问题，余承东回答：“我们会颠覆消费者的这一观念”。他表示，在发布会上曝光的参数功能消费者都看在眼里记在心上，华为荣耀3C的UI、产品配置、工艺等方面都要领先于红米手机。消费者都是非常聪明的，当他们看到了这样一款产品的实际表现后，自然会对二者有一个新的认识。今年夏天发布的华为荣耀3获得了91%的好评率，华为荣耀3C的好评率有望超越这一数字。
进入2013年，智能手机的“核战争”非但没有平息反而愈演愈烈。前有怪兽级性能表现的骁龙800芯片领跑，后面又有刚刚推出的联发科八核MT6592步步紧逼，在处理器选择上饱受质疑的华为将如何应对？
对此，余承东表示，对于华为而言，海思、高通和联发科都是十分重要的合作伙伴。虽然海思在外人看来会是华为比较倾向的对象，但在最终的选择上，华为还是秉承公平竞争的原则。此次华为荣耀3C/3X两款新机便是采用了功耗更低、更省电的联发科处理器，这也符合华为对这两款产品的设计初衷。
今年7月有消息称，海思下一代八核处理器K3V3已经研发完成，很可能将会用于接下来的华为Ascend D2和Mate的升级机型上。余承东在回答笔者提问时称，华为确实在研发海思八核处理器，会将其用于未来推出的部分机型上。
最近不少国产旗舰品牌机型纷纷掀起骁龙800的热潮，对此余承东回答：“我们暂时没有计划推出骁龙800机型”。他同时对当前智能手机市场的“发烧配置说”表达了自己的看法，华为“坚持关注用户体验得到的性能提升，例如UI、拍照、屏幕等方面，而跑分仅仅是账面上好看，然而消费者非但不能从高跑分中受益，相反还可能承受发热等副作用”。
在群访过程中，余承东表示，“我们是为退烧而生”。华为荣耀3C/3X的屏幕并非全高清，华为荣耀3C的后置摄像头也并非是13MP，但余承东还是坚持保留了这样的参数配置。
