受大火影响，建业大厦周围许多单位、商店、企业都已停止工作。在附近上班的陈小姐告诉记者，虽然单位发了短信通知今天不用上班，但她还是来现场先看看情况，也有不少未接到通知的上班族来到现场后因进不了办公点而离去。
上午10时许，记者在建业大厦西侧看到大厦内仍有少许火苗，几台高喷消防车仍在对楼层进行喷水作业，楼内飘出大量白烟。现场不时能听见大楼玻璃、建筑材料掉落的“噼里啪啦”声，周围低矮楼房的房顶、回民小学旁的街巷内，都能看到大楼燃烧时掉落的各类碎片。
虽然大楼内明火可见，但火势完全处在控制中，并在高喷消防车的压制中逐渐变小。14时25分许，记者视野中的3个高喷消防车被撤掉，建业大厦周围仅有轻薄烟雾飘荡，大厦本身只剩些空壳，已经基本不再冒烟。
截至昨日18时，大楼上的烟雾已经很少，部分消防车也陆续离开，但现场封锁仍未解除。

“消防整改有什么用？有没有腐败？”

从越秀区官方网站可以看到，火灾发生的一个多月前，越秀区曾对消防隐患重点单位——建业大厦(烂尾楼)鞋仓进行了督导检查，并提出了整改要求。
昨日现场，谢晓丹就说，“失火大楼是烂尾楼改鞋类仓库，老百姓投诉了几次，开了无数次会，领导去督查，发了整改通知书，但业主不听。”
建业大厦火灾从前天傍晚烧到昨天上午，明火连烧12个小时。谢晓丹透露，现场救火很困难，失火大楼只有东面起义路可以直接救火，南北西三面全是密集的居民楼。“(现在)连起义路都无法保障防火安全。消防车多了，连水源都不足！”谢晓丹说道。
居民安置
1367名居民被安置到39间宾馆

昨日下午，越秀区委、区政府在回民小学向媒体通报了大厦火灾后的居民安置情况。15日晚上，越秀区在附近的回民小学、朝天路小学、华侨中学、西湖路星光老年之家设置了临时居民安置中转点，并采取就近酒店安排为主，其他街道支援为辅的方式，妥善安排居民群众入住。至昨日14时，已在14条街道辖内的宾馆酒店安置了608户居民共1367人。
昨日10时30分许，北京街道办事处分别在西湖路和教育路路口、教育路与惠福东路路口设置了两个便民服务点。北京街道办工作人员告诉记者，辖区内被疏散的居民在此进行登记后将被安置到润湖大厦、陕西大厦、华丰大厦、华成大厦4个安置点。
光塔街道通过前晚设置的4个居民集中点，当晚就已安置1000多名被疏散的群众，昨天上午4个临时集中点也已撤掉3个，仅剩回民小学中山五校区。昨天聚集在安置点的居民主要是前晚自行投亲靠友或住宾馆的居民，大约有两三百人。
昨日12时许，记者在回民小学中山五校区看到，饼干、矿泉水、八宝粥等物资已经运到，随即向现场居民分发。虽然集中点内人数众多，但现场秩序井然，关于安置的最新信息也一直在通过学校广播进行公告。
家住建业大厦附近的赖先生带着儿子上午10点多来到了集中点并进行了登记，12时38分他们坐上了前往安置酒店的面包车；租住在疏散区内的外来工刘阿姨也和自己的工友们一起，被安置在东山宾馆。
据越秀区分管民政工作的负责人介绍，居民们经过登记后，按照就近安置原则，被分批送往全区39家酒店中，即使户籍不在本地，但只要居住在疏散区内的居民一并同等安置。
昨日19时，越秀区火灾安置接待点于改至朝天路81号朝天路小学内，原接待点回民小学于同一时间关闭接待功能。越秀区相关负责人表示，预计今天回民小学中山五校区可正常复课。
昨日下午4时许，记者来到位于起义路2号的广州宾馆，这是建业大厦火灾被疏散居民的安置酒店之一。据越秀区民政局工作人员介绍，截至昨日16时，广州宾馆已安置88户居民229人，使用客房95间。
记者走访了多间客房，发现居民均可享受每人一张床的服务，并且客房整洁干净，有电视等设备供居民使用。
在广州宾馆一楼大厅一侧，数名区民政局、光塔街道工作人员临时搭起了服务台，一名工作人员在接受记者采访时说，他们的主要责任是负责安置在酒店内的居民的食宿及其他要求，“比如负责他们的午饭和晚饭，我们通过订外卖的方式给居民提供饭菜。”
越秀区副区长段德海强调，为做好受影响群众的后期服务工作，目前，越秀区政府已先期划拨300万元给区民政局用于居民安置。
越秀区卫生局也紧急组织了3个医疗救助队和24个医护人员到达现场，提供医疗保障服务。另有心理医生对安置点的受灾群众进行情绪安抚和解释劝导。
越秀区将持续通过微博、网上公告等形式公布热线电话(020-83300216)，接听群众的咨询和诉求。越秀区民政局局长张雅丽提醒市民需听从工作人员安排，不要擅自进入火灾事故安全封锁区域取回个人物品，避免人身安全受到伤害。
