据黑龙江省森工总局动保部门确认，该影像中的东北虎为一只成年雄性野生东北虎，这是黑龙江地区有野生东北虎监测记录以来首次拍摄到高清晰动态影像。
记者在绥阳林业局提供这段虽然只有短短几秒钟的视频资料中看到，在一片有了些许泛黄的灌木丛前，一只体格健壮的东北虎从镜头前匆匆走过，老虎上身及四肢黑黄相间毛发与腹部白色毛发均清晰可见，通过回放、定格，还能清晰看到这只虎的胡须与黑色的脚掌垫，以及明显的雄性器官。整段视频没有任何杂波和干扰，清晰流畅。
据省森工总局野生动物保护处处长张树森介绍，这段监控视频虽然很短，但弥足珍贵，这是自绥阳林业局开展野生东北虎保护及监测工作以来，首次近距离拍摄到的野生东北虎视频画面，这表明黑龙江省老爷岭东北虎自然保护区的保护及监测工作是卓有成效的。
张处长说：“这次成功拍摄到清晰野生东北虎的影像资料更加振奋了野生动物保护工作者的精神。随着我省森工系统的资源环境的进一步改善，良好的生态环境必然会为野生东北虎的生存创造更好条件和更大的空间，相信在不久的将来，我们会听到更多的虎啸山林。”
