针对此事，中国畜牧业协会兔业分会发布声明称，协会在全国长毛兔的主要养殖区山东、浙江等地调查后发现，网上宣传的所谓手拔毛的采毛方式，仅是个别养殖农户较为极端的不当行为，不具有代表性。
昨晚，中国畜牧业协会兔业分会副秘书长颉先生说，拔毛会刺激兔子皮肤，而后长出的毛较粗，收购价更高。“这种方式在上个世纪80年代以前使用较多，现在据我们调查，绝大部分养殖户都使用手动推刀或者电推刀的方式采毛，该组织的说法，是以偏概全的。”
