据悉，事发虎舍呈品字形，共三间虎舍，两间小的虎舍分别在左右两边，各16平方米左右，前面有一个20多平方米的活动区域。周师傅有多年饲养工作经验，从未出过差错，但当天可能忘记关吊门，正是这一操作上的疏忽导致惨剧发生。
据了解，肇事老虎今年9岁，正值壮年，在上海动物园出生，没有野化的任务，也并非野外饲养。目前，老虎已经被关在虎舍中，上海动物园方面表示，不会对老虎实施安乐死。
3年前曾发生虎咬人惨剧
昨天，上海动物员官方微博发布消息：12月17日10点30分，上海动物园繁殖场发生了华南虎咬死饲养员事件。市绿化市容局已派人到现场处理有关事项，经法医证实，该饲养员已经死亡。事故原因正在进一步调查中。
涉事老虎为9岁的雄性华南虎，之前并未有过伤人记录，目前也不在发情期。事件发生在公园繁殖场，进出繁殖场有一定的安全操作流程，但此次事故原因园方正配合安监部门进行调查。事件发生后，市绿化市容管理部门已责成园方立即进行园内的安全检查，加固笼舍；同时，进一步加强对工作人员的安全教育，并妥善处理善后工作。
2010年，上海动物园曾发生孟加拉虎咬死饲养员的惨剧。此后，动物园方面于2012年启动了笼舍安全技防改造项目。按照规定，包括虎笼在内的凶猛动物馆都要安装监控摄像头和门状态报警系统等安保装置。
