这次继续押注的结果是随后一年内科技网站上翻来覆去的“黑莓寻求出售”“黑莓明确表示不再出售”的新闻轮播,公司内外动荡不安的局势令越来越多的人对其已不抱希望,只期待它有一场“体面”的谢幕仪式。

11月初,黑莓正式宣布放弃出售计划,未来公司仍将继续运营,并撤出消费者市场将公司业务重心放在企业客户。“待售”的标签虽已撕除,但公司CEO、COO、CMO、CFO等高管均离开了公司。

作为20世纪末互联网奇迹创造者之一的雅虎,以搜索起家,也是全球最早从事电子邮件服务的互联网企业之一;他的联合创始人杨致远,是那个年代中国内地知名度最高的互联网人。然后接下来的事情我们都知道了,1998年雅虎收购阿里巴巴40%股份,代价是10亿美元外加雅虎中国,1999年中文雅虎进驻内地。在当时全中国都没有多少网站的背景下,很快跻身中国网民的主要上网入口行列。

这场以物换物的资本运作堪称双赢,阿里巴巴凭借10亿美金发展壮大,雅虎也如愿以偿拿到了股权投资回报。但雅虎总部对中国区长远战略定位出现失误,没有抓住机会乘胜追击;同时在自身的裁员和不断的业务调整之下,雅虎无暇顾及中国业务,中国雅虎只充当了阿里巴巴业务扩张的附属品。

在2005年10月,阿里巴巴全资收购雅虎中国后,雅虎中国业务便逐步被“掏空”,仅剩下雅虎二字品牌。

时至今日,中国雅虎已于2013年9月1日停止提供资讯及社区服务,域名也已经跳转至阿里巴巴旗下的公益频道,那些雅虎的忠实用户,在陪伴雅虎多年后接连失去搜索、邮箱和门户,成为了最忠诚的被抛弃者。

在竞争压力和PC衰退大潮之下的戴尔似乎别无选择,昔日的个人电脑巨头将会转变为一家企业服务公司。而对于迈克尔-戴尔和他一手创建的戴尔公司来说,私有化是一个对PC时代的告别,也是一个转型新的开始。

通过此次私有化,戴尔就不必时刻暴露在投资者和分析师的严密监视下,将获得更多时间和空间发展对公司业务进行彻底的梳理或者拆分,转型服务商以更好地同IBM和惠普竞争。

这会是戴尔公司的第二春吗?但如何跟上移动互联网的趋势,将是戴尔将来要面对的本质问题。

6.MSN关闭——个人通讯的迭代

在早期的IM市场上,微软的MSN和腾讯的OICQ(也就是现在的QQ)应该说是同时起步,但MSN凭借微软的强力支持发展迅速,到鼎盛时期的2008年时,其全球市场份额甚至已经达到了60%。在中国内地市场,早年的MSN是“高端大气上档次”的代名词,而QQ则被视为屌丝产品

风水轮流转,而今QQ日活跃用户已超7亿,其“兄弟”微信用户数量已经突破了6亿,MSN几乎已经无人问津。3月15日,微软宣布在全球范围内(除了中国内地)关闭MSN业务,唯一残存的中国内地MSN也即将入土。

MSN如昙花一般的陨落,一方面在于微软的试图翻盘之举——收购Skype——急于求成,与MSN功能有较大重合的skype不但没有如虎添翼,反而更加自乱阵脚,微软不得已将二者而重新整合。但更重要的原因,则是微软在移动领域创新短板,在其他IM技术、应用创新不断的时候,MSN固步自封,使其功能逐步落后甚至脱离时代,保守诟病的同时也丢失了原有用户。

随着日前微软正式接过Tom在线手中的Skype中国地区运营权,中国内地MSN业务迁移至Skype已成定局,MSN将成为历史。
