2013年12月23日起，互联网和电话订票将首先开售春运期间临时增开的临客列车车票，预售期为25天(含当天)。据广铁集团相关负责人介绍，23日起售的临客车票，主要是春运外来工团体票(包括5人自行组团)安排后的剩余车票。具体方式是：通过互联网和电话订票，可提前25天，即12月23日起可购2014年1月16日车票；在代售点和集中售取票点购票，可提前23天，即12月25日起可购2014年1月16日车票。广州地区市民还可前往市区集中售取票点(地点设在广园东路1814号，12月25日七点启用)购票或取票。集中售取票点服务时间为全天24小时，代售点售票服务时间为早上7时至24时，取票服务时间为早上8时至24时。
铁路部门提醒，从2013年12月30日开始，广州、广州北、广州东、佛山、深圳、深圳东、深圳西、东莞东、东莞、惠州10个车站的站内售票窗口以及自动售票机，预售期将调整为2天(含当天)，即仅售今明两天剩余的车票。

铁路部门提醒，所有的车票均在一个系统公开对外发售，但是互联网和电话订票优先，其次是各代售点和临时设立的集中售取票点，最后是车站窗口和自动售票机。因此，购买火车票应该首选互联网或电话订票，窗口购票和取票应就近选择代售点。如果互联网或电话订票系统显示车票已售完，则其他售票方式也买不到车票，无需再盲目到窗口排队，应及时改变出行日期或选择其它交通工具出行。春运期间各火车站乘车人流非常集中，已经通过互联网订到车票后，最好提前到就近的代售点取票，不要在开车前才到车站换取车票，以免耽误出行。而通过电话预订到车票的旅客，在当日12点前预订的车票须于次日12点前取票；当日12点后预订的车票，须于次日24点前取票，否则所订车票将返回重新发售。
