新加坡海事和港务局表示，截至20日下午5点，新加坡空军派出的两架直升机以及新加坡海岸警卫队派出的两艘巡逻艇仍在出事海域执行搜救任务。此外，新加坡还派出一艘潜水员支援艇对附近海域执行潜水搜救任务。MPA表示，事故原因仍在调查中，目前6名被救的中国船员已不需要医疗救助，新加坡方面已向中国驻新加坡使馆通报了这一事故。
新加坡东部水域船只倾覆事故频繁。今年7月24日，中国籍驳船“国良677号”在新加坡东部水域倾覆，8名中国籍船员失踪。至7月30日搜救行动终止，事故造成1名中国籍船员遇难、7人下落不明。
