郑州“房妹”事件爆料人是湖南建工集团郑州南溪苑经适房小区项目负责人赵某，该小区开发商是“房妹”母亲李淑萍名下的河南一通房地产开发有限公司。赵某称，因河南一通房地产开发有限公司拖欠他6000多万工程款而举报“房妹”父亲翟振峰。
因翟振峰的特殊身份，该事件引起社会的高度关注，爆料人称，翟的女儿有两个户口、名下11套房产。
之后，爆料人称，查出翟振峰的儿子、“房妹”的哥哥翟政宏有两个户口，名下14套房产；翟振峰妻子拥有4套房。至此“房妹”一家已爆出拥房29套。
随着事件的步步演变，更多的细节正在浮出水面。有记者调查发现，在担任国家公职人员期间，翟振峰涉嫌自己开办房地产公司，从2010年甚至更早就开始从事房地产商业活动。
郑州市工商管理局的网站上的信息显示，注册资本为3000万的河南一通房地产开发有限公司，目前的法人代表是李淑萍。李淑萍正是翟振峰的妻子。
据媒体报道，2011年9月，翟振峰因利用职务便利为亲属谋取利益及其他违纪行为，被纪检部门予以“开除党籍、行政撤职”的处分。但翟振峰的公务员身份被予以保留。
《公务员法》中明确规定，公务员不得从事或者参与营利性活动，在企业或者其他营利性组织中兼任职务。翟振峰以公职人员的身份参与一通房地产开发有限公司的经营事务，涉嫌违法。
