荔湾区法院一审查实，2009年底至2012年间，越健泉为获得时任广州市民政局局长兼党委书记李治臻(已判刑)在工作调动、分工方面提供的帮助，先后多次向李贿送人民币共计60万元、加拿大币1万元、金条2条。
这些财物共分9次送出，最早一次是在2009年。那时，越健泉在一酒家给了李治臻10万元，之后如愿以偿从荔湾区府办公室主任转入民政系统，当上副局长。此后两多时间里，越健泉在春节、中秋节期间不断给李治臻送钱，数额动辄5万、10万。
九进：谋私利，多在任职街道办期间
法院还认定，从2004年至2010年，越健泉在担任荔湾区桥中街街道办事处党工委书记、荔湾区政府办公室主任、广州市民政局副局长期间，利用职务便利，收受多人贿赂共计人民币50万元、港币5万元及友谊商店购物卡0.5万元。

判决：刑期九年，继续追缴违法所得
据此，荔湾区法院一审认为，越健泉身为国家机关工作人员，其行为构成受贿罪、行贿罪，应对其数罪并罚。鉴于越健泉自首，可减轻处罚。法院决定对越执行有期徒刑9年，并处没收财产10万元，继续追缴违法所得人民币50.5万元、港币5万元。
判后，越健泉认为量刑过重，称其愿意退还收受的贿赂款，请求从轻处罚。其辩护人则提出受贿数额认定有误，称其母亲身体状况极差，请求轻判。
广州中院二审后认为，原审认定事实无误，量刑适当，不予采纳上诉意见，维持原判。
