11月27日，位于沙洋经济开发区的熊兴化工有限公司职工杨某，经沙洋运通物流有限公司(圆通速递加盟公司)，向山东潍坊某制药厂快递氟乙酸甲酯样品。快件从沙洋发往山东潍坊后，在潍坊分拨中心发生泄漏，导致数人中毒、部分快件受到污染。
11月29日，受污染快件照常投送，山东广饶县一刘姓男子在收到网购童鞋几小时后，出现呕吐、腹痛等症状，当天因抢救无效身亡。据初步诊断，刘某死于氟乙酸甲酯中毒。
12月20日，山东省邮政管理局通报称，“夺命快递”已导致1人死亡、9人不同程度中毒。
据介绍，氟乙酸甲酯虽不属于《危险化学品名录》(2002版)中的危险化学品，但具有易燃特性，刺激人的眼睛、呼吸系统和皮肤，曾出现过致人死亡的极端案例。
