4家单位或被拆迁或硬件落后
针对本报报道四家单位建设新楼，门头沟区政府相关人士向北京青年报记者介绍了具体情况，该项目将供四家单位使用，分别为区气象观测站、区地震监测预报中心、北京市永定河管理处供水调度中心(市属单位)、滨河世纪广场维护管理中心，总建筑面积6005平方米。
滨河路业务用房建设项目旨在集中还建被拆迁单位业务用房或改善相关单位业务用房条件和相关设施。原气象观测站和北京市永定河管理处供水调度中心因棚户区改造安置房建设及永定河生态治理等市级重点工程被拆迁。原滨河世纪广场维护管理中心业务用房为临时建筑，环境脏乱，原区地震监测预报中心位于居民平房院内，没有地震应急指挥大厅，观测环境和监测设施均不达标。本着整体布局、相对集中的原则，在永定河文化广场北侧对四个项目进行了统一选址和集中建设。
并非违规修建楼堂馆所
门头沟区政府相关人士介绍，这项工程于2011年5月启动，2012年4月正式开工建设，目前已基本完工。项目主要是4家单位的业务用房而非办公楼，在项目建设中严格执行了相关建设设计标准、单位综合造价标准，不存在豪华建设、豪华装修等问题，不存在违规修建楼堂馆所的问题。
针对楼顶的金球设计，设计人员介绍，4座建筑外立面的金黄色顶部采用的是普通黄色反光墙面涂料，楼的外墙采用的是普通可塑水泥，都属于常用的中低档合格轻质装修材料，既展现了城市风格，又没有造成浪费。
整体设计配合旅游城市景观
“这个项目的设计，考虑到要与永定河文化广场的建筑风格相匹配，同时体现旅游城市的景观风貌。”门头沟区政府相关人士表示，近年来门头沟区结合产业转型，大力发展旅游文化休闲产业，正在按照旅游城市的标准积极开展新城建设。
鉴于该项目紧邻永定河文化广场，将建筑顶部设计为圆顶造型，旨在保持项目和周边公园环境的整体性和风格统一，同时凸显门头沟新城作为旅游城市的景观风貌。
