2015年9月，英特尔上市的新款Skylake架构处理器，除强调省电和内部显示卡的效能，也增加对DDR4、无线充电、Type-C、Thunderbolt3及人脸辨识等新规格、新应用的支援。
在今年5月在上海举行的CES上，英特尔宣布与海尔合作，在国内更多商业场所和公共场所部署无线充电热点。
而现在，英特尔被曝出已经放弃其一手促成的AirFuel，可谓让业界大跌眼镜。
对于此事，英特尔在台发言窗口对于裁员与否不予置评。业内人士认为，英特尔原本是无线充电两大联盟之一的AirFuel联盟重量级成员之一，裁员动作的背后，可能代表市场起飞期还早，但后续若出现市场需求，可能移转会至联发科、盛群、凌通等其他晶片厂。
无线充电供应链传出，英特尔4月下旬宣布今年将全球大裁员1.2万人之后，近期已在各地陆续进行裁员动作，上周则通知裁减配置在上海、美国的无线充电部门人力，在无线充电领域的布局几近喊停。
英特尔原本在上海无线充电部门约有40名人力，这次全数裁减，等于一个都不留；位于美国的无线充电部门则裁员百人，仅留下少数人力，持续关注无线充电产业的动向。
业界表示，英特尔这一波裁员计划，主要是配合产品策略转向。但这一消息足够劲爆，因为英特尔自加入A4WP和一手促成AirFuel之后，对无线充电业务可谓是乐此不疲，但是，现在英特尔从此业务中的抽身而退。不禁让人浮想联编，与最近“美国队长”被曝是九头蛇卧底如出一辙。
这对于WPC来说，可谓是大好消息。至于AirFuel和那些诸如海尔的英特尔准合作公司，小编只想说：求它们的心理阴影面积了。
