谷歌旗下有一个很酷的项目，就是通过高空中漂浮和移动的氦气球，面向地球偏僻地区的人口提供上网服务。这一项目已经在全球多个发展中国家进行试验性的服务，也引发了媒体关注。
不过，谷歌这一项目被一家科技公司告上了法庭，罪名是侵犯他人十年前就发明的技术和专利。
据美国科技新闻网站TheVerge报道，日前，一家名为“太空数据公司”（Space Data Corporation）将谷歌的上网气球项目（Project Loon）告上了加州北区联邦地方法庭。
该公司指出，谷歌的项目侵犯了其两个专利，都是在十多年前就已经具备的技术。其中一个专利申请时间是1999年，涉及到通过高空气球给地面用户提供上网服务。
另外一个被侵犯的专利，申请于2001年，主要涉及到如何终止或者回收提供上网的高空气球。
据称，谷歌的项目使用到了相关的专利技术，但是并未向太空数据公司申请专利授权。不过需要指出的是，谷歌这一项目中也使用了多个本公司具有的专利技术。
太空数据公司目前主要提供两大产品，分别是SkySat和SkySite，和谷歌的上网气球项目类似，也是向地面用户提供基于气球的上网服务。
该公司已经从美国联邦通信委员会获得了在阿拉斯加、墨西哥湾等偏远地区提供宽带服务的牌照，但是据报道，其相关产品并未获得广泛使用。
据报道，也有其他的理由证明谷歌的上网气球项目参考了太空数据公司的发明。2008年2月，当时谷歌这一项目仍然在筹备阶段，谷歌联合创始人布林和佩齐，曾经带着谷歌一个代表团拜访了太空数据公司的总部。
当时，美国《华尔街日报》也报道了这次造访。业界猜测谷歌有可能收购太空数据公司或是进行商业合作。然而最终的合作并未出现。大约三年之后，谷歌独立研发的上网气球开始进行试验。
据悉，在谷歌代表团这次访问之前，两家公司签署了不对外披露信息的协议。不过太空数据公司认为，谷歌后来研发了上网气球项目，表明已经违反了双方的协定。
对于这一诉讼，谷歌方面并未置评。
谷歌以及Alphabet旗下拥有大一批创新研发业务，其中包括快递无人机、高空上网气球、自动驾驶汽车等。不过根据最近的报道，谷歌的创新研发业务遭遇了重大挫折，其中机器人业务已经基本放弃，另外智能家居方面也出现项目高管人事地震和产品开发失败的情况。
据悉，在过去，谷歌的创新研发项目也曾经被其他公司以侵犯专利技术的罪名告上法庭。
在谷歌的上网气球计划中，高空中漂浮的氦气球阵列，将会和地面移动通信公司的基站进行通信，并面向广阔的地区提供上网接入服务。这样，依靠少量的地面基站，谷歌的气球能够极大提高提供上网服务的人口数量。
谷歌上网气球已经在全球多个地区进行了测试，而在去年年中，谷歌还曾经和斯里兰卡签署了协议，计划向岛上民众提供上网服务。
不过，谷歌上网气球提供上网服务的稳定性如何，其服务价格是否能够让发展中国家的偏远地区民众所接受，是否能够大面积推广，这些问题仍然有待进一步的回答。
