发布会结束后，刘作虎接受了腾讯科技的专访。在采访中，刘作虎被问到为何不会做VR产品时，给出了这样的答案。
刘作虎表示，“大家都在一窝蜂做VR，都在跟进，其实都是在做些没有技术含量的东西吹牛逼而已。除了Oculus、谷歌和HTC所发布的VR产品，其他厂商几乎都是做的没有价值的东西。”
他接着说，“硬件厂商做VR，如果想不清楚价值在哪里，做了又有什么意义呢？像有些厂商卖不出去免费送吗？”
显然，刘作虎一方面承认了VR产品的价值，另一方面却不看好硬件厂商跨界做廉价VR产品。这与他之前宣布一年专注做一款手机的思路相同，这也意味着，在接下来的半年时间中，除了一加手机3外，我们恐怕很难看到一加推出其他电子新品。
另外，IT资讯认为，有需求就会有市场，硬件厂商做廉价VR虽有跟风嫌疑，但同样有可取之处，众人拾柴火焰高，一个产业的崛起单靠一两个巨头是不行的，大家都不去涉足相关产品，VR产业的发展将相当缓慢。刘作虎的看法，只不过更适合目前一加科技的处境而已。
