李楠表示，魅族mCycle计划的初衷首先是履行企业的环保意识和社会责任，目前中国每年产生的废旧手机为1.8亿部，这其中只有不到1%被环保回收。大量未经合理处理的废旧手机，对环境造成十分巨大的危害。而对于消费者而言，他们并不排斥废旧手机回收，只是担心信息不透明不太了解行情，担心旧手机价值被低估，而且旧手机的隐私安全无法保证等问题。事实上，经过调查，目前对于电子垃圾回收处理的方式也存在问题。

李楠称，mCycle采取的是“手机企业+回收网站+环保工厂”三方合作联动的方式进行回收处理，通过更为专业的技术，可实现对10%的回收手机进行绿色环保处理，同时能够解决隐私问题。而对于回收的价格，李楠表示，魅族主要是根据二手回收市场和新机销售价格相结合进行对比，取最高值进行最终报价，并根据手机的购买渠道和零部件的保养状况进行百分比分配确认最终回收手机的实际价格。虽然这个价格未必比非正规渠道高，但更安全。

对于mCycle究竟给环保带来了怎样的积极意义，首先要从该服务已经取得的成果来看。李楠表示，魅族mCycle从去年8月项目开展至今，回收旧手机总量4万余部，线上回收品牌扩充到13个（苹果、小米、魅族、华为、三星、酷派、NOKIA、联想、HTC、VIVO、OPPO、锤子、索尼），可参与以旧换新手机达550多种型号，计划在2016年底可回收机型将扩充至1500种以上。回收渠道从线上魅族官网扩充到线下魅族专卖店，目前54家魅族专卖店已启动以旧换新服务，并将继续扩大。

在此基础上，如果按照理论上一块电池的污染力度为60000L水来算，mCycle目前已经减少了水污染20万吨；一块电池如若废弃在土地上，可使1平方公里的土地污染50年左右，理论上mCycle减少了土地污染4万平方公里；四万台手机接近4吨，理论可提取600g黄金、提取400KG铜、12KG的银。

最后，关于mCycle如何盈利，李楠表示有信心探索出一套可以盈利的商业模式，在日本和欧洲在已经有很完善的环保回收产业链，在这方面有成熟的经验，中国一旦把手机回收的量做起来，也可以借鉴。
