很多用户都忽略了Facebook有各种途径进入新闻门户网站,他们很少会去专业新闻媒体确认信息的真实性和准确性。而Facebook本身并不是一个新闻网站,即便新闻发布商停止在上面发表新闻,对Facebook也影响不大。反而在竞争激烈的新闻行业来说,Facebook作为发布的其中一个途径是必要的。

这样看来,科技公司似乎从吸引受众眼球和财务收入上都是获胜者,狠狠击败了专业新闻媒体。另外,用户还倾向于使用智能手机阅读移动端的新闻。而为了谋取更多的经济利益来在短时间内吸引更多的读者,这些网站开始争当“标题党”,在新闻标题上出奇招,损害了新闻专业主义奉行的客观性。

尽管网络覆盖面积如此广大,网络用户数量众多,但对于美国人,尤其是老年人群来说,电视依然是获取重要新闻的第一来源。但是,现代社会下网络接触的普遍性,和某些新媒体不负责任的行为,还是对专业新闻媒体形成相当程度上的伤害。

虽然这项报告针对对象是美国,但相同的情况在中国今天并不罕见。科技公司的迅猛速度和多媒体展示能力,民众发散的兴趣爱好和愈不耐烦的“速食阅读”习惯,种种因素造成传统新闻媒体陷入困境的情形,应如何摆脱目前还没有明确的答案。
