据谷歌中国的工程师透露，负责搬迁事宜的谷歌北京研发中心总经理赵泽红出席了该场聚会，但谷歌大中华区现任总裁石博盟并未现身。
前谷歌大中华区总裁李开复、前谷歌中国研究院副院长谷雪梅均受到邀请，并到场参与了此次告别。这座位于北京中关村清华科技园的谷歌北京总部，自2006年9月4日正式启用，并成为谷歌中国总部后，将在2016年8月1日，成为名副其实的“旧址”。

在2006年入驻清华科技园科建大厦以前，谷歌中国曾在建国门外的新华保险大厦短暂工作过，当年9月4日，谷歌中国宣布启用占地1.4万平方米的科建大厦，正式入驻中关村，并在这里度过了风云际会的十年。
科建大厦总共10层，可容纳上千人同时办公，内部装修风格也是研习“谷歌范”。一层有知名的“谷歌食堂”，其余楼层则分设了“休息室”、“咖啡吧”和“健身房”，每层还设有按摩椅，以及不间断供应的零食和水果。
在科建大厦最顶部，则有“Google中国-谷歌”字样的logo牌，但仍为2015年前的旧字样。在2015年Google的logo更换新字样后，官方并没有对中国区的主logo牌一并进行更换，在一楼大厅门外的地标上，刷新后的logo也只有“Google”，而不再有“中国”和“谷歌”字样。
据谷歌中国内部人士透露，在谷歌搜索服务退出大陆地区后，科建大厦始终保有上百人规模的研发工程师团队和销售团队，但比起搜索服务退出之前，员工和团队规模减少了很多。另一点可以印证的是，谷歌中国北京总部新址——融科资讯大厦，谷歌中国只租用了3-4层。
谷歌中国北京总部新址将于8月1日正式启用，这里紧邻北四环，比科建大厦更靠南，不过直线距离来说，两个地址仅仅相隔1公里。
更换新址为求新气象？
搬迁的原因据说是为了“新风格”的装修。“科建大厦内部虽然装修得很好，但也已经有些年头了，重新设计之类的也可能受限于层高和原有格局，所以决定更换新址。”谷歌中国知情人士告诉新浪科技。
也有前谷歌中国的研发工程师笑称，此举是为了告别“过去”——毕竟在科建大厦，十年里发生了太多可以被载入史册的事，并且都相对沉重，可能也是希望换个新地方换得新气象。“现在还有人去科建大厦门口献花吗？”已多年未回过谷歌中国的该工程师向新浪科技询问。
不过在“告别仪式”现场，气氛并不显得沉重。音乐、致辞、欢笑、合影……一度吸引了不少路人围观，前谷歌大中华区总裁李开复的出席，也让众多谷歌中国员工有意外之喜，这位现创新工场董事长成了被要求合影次数最多的人，有员工称和李开复在科建大厦合影的意义在于：启用科建大厦作为谷歌中国总部的决定是李开复任内做出的，“谷歌”这一Google的中文译名也来自李开复的拍板。
现场参与的谷歌中国工程师还表示，虽然对科建大厦有感情，但搬迁新址也是一件值得期待的事，因为据说装修更加前卫、硬件设备更加先进。而对于“新气象”一事，该员工表示个人内心有期待，但对于管理层面的事情，并不知情，也不方便谈论过多。
实际上，新浪科技曾于2015年11月报道过谷歌中国正在寻求新址的消息，当时有消息称谷歌在招聘中国区工程师和销售人员，可能有新动作会发生，但新浪科技当时得到的谷歌官方回应是：谷歌一直都在中国，招聘也只是例行事宜。
到了2016年1月，在谷歌中国新年官方致辞视频里，谷歌大中华区总裁还用中文强调称：谷歌中国一直都在！虽然这种说法耐人寻味，但此后关于谷歌的传闻并无实质进展。

值得一提的是，谷歌最近还在深圳开设了Google AdWords深圳体验中心，这是继郑州、天津、大连、上海、贵阳、长沙、东莞等7个城市后，在中国开设的第8个体验中心。体验中心主要面向企业展示Google可以如何帮助它们“走出去”——在海外更好地展现自己，并利用精准广告营销提高海外客户成交率。据外媒消息，在Google AdWords深圳体验中心开幕时，还有中国一名相对高层的稽查特派员出席。
此外，谷歌方面称，Google AdWords体验中心今年还将在广州、佛山和中山等地开设，主要是华南地区外贸企业较多。体验中心内除了展示营销效果，用户还可以体验到谷歌手表、可折叠的锂动力自行车、谷歌平板电脑等最新高科技产品，以及谷歌无人车等前沿科技项目的最新进展资讯。不过据体验者称，软件使用仍旧离不开VPN。
然而不难发现的是，谷歌官方对于中国市场和中国开发者保持着密切关注。在AlphaGo和李世石的人机围棋大战期间，谷歌方面多次向新浪科技询问中国地区的关注情况，并对用户在微博上展现出的热情感到惊讶。据微博数据显示，仅“人机围棋对决”一个话题，讨论数就超过了19万，阅读数则突破3.2亿。谷歌官方在全球直播收视统计后，确认60%流量来自中国大陆地区。
而在2016年Google I/O开发者大会上，Google现任CEO皮查伊还专门向中国地区开发者问好，称百万级的中国开发者在线观看人数让他备受鼓舞。此前，这位新任GoogleCEO还在AlphaGo和李世石的比赛后来到中国，并与中国围棋国手柯洁九段进行了交流。有消息称，柯洁九段将是AlphaGo的下一个目标，不过该消息其后遭到了AlphaGo开发团队DeepMind的否认。
总之，关于谷歌中国告别十年总部意味着什么又将会带来什么，目前还无法获知更多消息，但耐人寻味的是，在接受新浪科技采访后，一位谷歌中国的员工引用了《了不起的盖茨比》中的话来表达期待，在该作品结尾，作者菲茨杰拉德如此写道：于是，我们继续奋力向前划，如同逆水行舟，不停地被浪潮推回到往昔岁月。
