Uber despot: poached by United States robots at CMU University scientist lab 40%-Uber, robots, AI-IT information

From several large technology, auto giants such as Google, Mercedes-Benz's performance seems to be driverless car is not far away from us, but not everyone agrees that driverless cars already have the ability to replace human drivers. Carnegie Mellon University Robotics Laboratory Director, robotics and Herman Herman thinks of commercialization experts, a driverless car is far away from us. Herman on February 23 last year as the post of the Director of the Carnegie Mellon University Robotics Laboratory, prior to this, Uber-picking 40 of 100 scientists in the laboratory.

Uber was cooperation with the robot laboratory at Carnegie Mellon University, in Pittsburgh, but they want to set up a research center devoted to the development of drone technology, and poaching action has been taken. Pittsburgh, this is Uber tested unmanned why Volvo XC90 SUV.

Herman Herman said Uber let engineers followed the unmanned prototype for a reason, not just for security reasons but driverless car technology from the Uber goals you want to reach "so far away".

Technically speaking, Herman said not sure Uber technology is mature enough, allows driverless cars on the road. He thinks Uber did, is because of the need to get public praise of the driverless car technology, as well as other non-technical reasons.

Most importantly, Herman thought to develop a complete 80% of the driverless car is "easy", if the signal is very good weather, GPS positioning, road sign set.

But the problem is it is difficult to realize the rest of 20%, because it requires a vehicle can be performed without GPS location signals, bad weather and automatically or without road signs.

While humans have the potential to achieve the above goals, but today's unmanned vehicles could not reach this standard.

Which is driverless cars in California is so eye-catching performance reasons, because California has only the bright sunshine and rain in two days. From this point of view, Herman point is very valid.
