该人士称，当年国家叫停基因检测项目的核心原因是绝大多数生物公司甚至医疗机构所使用的基因测序产品如诊断试剂、软件都未通过医疗器械的审批注册，“目前是否有所改善不好说”。
此外，记者调查发现，各大检测机构的宣传语都有些夸大其词，号称“包测百病”，尤其是在互联网上，宣称基因检测无所不能，只要一滴血，不仅可预测疾病、酒量大小，连是否有早恋、网瘾倾向等都可以预测。一家公司还在网上推出所谓的“婚恋基因检测”，以帮助人们尽快确定与自己情投意合的“意中人”。这些检测项目不仅包括进取心、节俭程度、焦虑抑郁倾向等性格因素，还包含是否爱吃甜食、咖啡、洋葱等生活习惯。
从千元亲民价到十万元天价套餐
除了功能无所不能，基因检测的价格也五花八门，不同的检测机构价格相差悬殊。记者在一家公司的宣传单页上看到，关于成人最全的易感基因检测套餐为300种病，全部检测需要2万多元。有的企业则按检测基因的个数收费，每个基因300元，根据不同类型组成近千元至7000多元的检测套餐。在样本采集手法上，以采集血样为主，有些是采集唾液。

测序结果的解读格外重要
五花八门的测序项目背后到底有多少准头？多位业内专家认为，基因测序的科技成果将会离百姓生活越来越近，但在享受科技进步带来的便利同时也不可过于迷信。
“基因测序技术本身是没有问题的。”汪道文教授认为，如果导致某种疾病的基因能够被发现，并且提早预防或有针对性地进行治疗，则可以更加有效。但是，它不能包测百病，更不能预测命运，像网瘾、早恋等明显是受环境影响的后天行为，并不直接由基因遗传给下一代。目前基因检测主要应用在三个方面：即有针对性地诊断疾病、指导用药、进行遗传咨询和科研服务。
