Google时间线功能近日发布近年来最大规模的更新。
三年前,Google第一次上线这个功能,当时用户可以看到1984年到2012年地球上各个地区的变化,如今,Google新增了2012年以来的地球图像信息。
用户只需要进入Google Timelapse网站,并在左上角的搜索栏里输入想要探索的城市或地区名字,便可看到该地过去32年来的动态变化图像。例如说,你可以输入“北京”,还可以输入“北京市东城区”,你也可以尝试输入你家附近的小卖部店名,可能也会有记录。

每年,Google都会通过它的卫星图像处理运行平台——Google地球引擎,把500万个卫星图像中像素点高达3万亿的照片筛选出来,然后再在这些照片里选出质量最高的保存下来,有了大量积累后,再编码做成动态图像块。
此次更新的地球四年卫星图像,来自于哨兵2号和 Landsat 8卫星。动态图像的放大与缩小等操作能流畅完成,则得益于卡内基·梅隆CREATE实验室的时光器技术。
