从被架空到出局2016年7月24日，也许是面临了财务上的危机，Cyanogen公司宣布在全球范围内裁员，裁员幅度高达23%。
10月10日，Cyanogen公司又在官网上发布文章，宣布Kirt McMaster不再担任CEO一职，改任董事长；接替他的，是Cyanogen的首席运营官Lior Tal。
根据 Kirt McMaster 在内部信中的说法：
我依然会活跃在公司里，主要负责产品战略、招聘以及协调合作伙伴……然而，在 80% 的情况下我的角色是对外的。
而Steve Kondik不再担任CTO一职，改任首席科学官（Chief Science Officer），同时，他还要向Cyanogen负责工程的高级副总裁Stephen Lawler汇报。
两位创始人，一位升任董事长，一位降级担任虚职；尤其是Steve Kondik，作为Cyanogen的主要创始人，他在Cyanogen公司中的角色被严重边缘化。
Steve并没有在11月30日的公开信中非常明确地提到这件事，但他说出了一句语焉不详的话，可能与这次重大人事调整有关：

2016年11月30日，Cyanogen现任CEO Lior Tal在官网发布声明，将在今年内关闭位于西雅图的办公室，并将整个团队整合到Palo Alto去。根据外媒的解读，实际上Cyanogen在Plao Alto的办公室规模比西雅图小很多，这实际上又是一次变相裁员。
另外，在声明中，Tal还正式宣布：
Cyanogen已经与Steve Kondik断绝任何关系。
无论是Lior Tal还是Steve Kondik，双方都没有详细说明这次关系断绝的具体细节；尽管Tal的官方声明中带着一些寒暄式的祝福话语，但一向低调的Kondik却在公开信中表现出一种不得已的愤怒、委屈和悲哀。
Kondik说：
我搞砸了，然后又被坑了……我很难过，并且失去了很多朋友。（I fucked up and got fucked over…It hurts, a lot. I lost a lot of friends.）
Kondik的下一步在公开信中，Kondik表明了自己未来发展的方向，其中的一个重点就是CM；毕竟在Kondik离开之后，CM与Cyanogen公司已经没有什么实质上的关系。
Steve Kondik首先要做的是把一些资料从Cyanogen中分离出去，并将一些知识产权（比如说作为一个品牌的Cyanogen）取回来。而且，他也已经在担心，在现有的情况下CM究竟能否得到长足的发展以及如何处理CM与其他ROM社区的关系的问题。
但无论如何，Steve Kondik想继续下去；毕竟，作为CM之父，他已经为CM献出了自己8年的生命岁月。
