这名老兵当年是“逃兵”？50多年过去了，为什么他一直想回家却回不了家？印度为什么不给他发离境许可？如今舆论的力量又能否助他尽早回家？
近日，参考消息网-锐参考记者和《环球时报》记者分别采访了老兵王琪，他讲述了受困印度多年的原因，观察者网综编如下：
他说自己不是“战俘”，且当年并未“投降”
根据BBC的报道，1963年中印战争停火数个星期后，中国军队测绘兵王琪在边境地区意外被扣留，之后再没法离开印度，于是他的思乡之情也绵延了50多年。

王琪老人告诉记者，1963年1月1日，他在中印边境地区的树林深处迷路。迷失两天之后，他遇到从树林经过的印度红字会救援车，他本能地向他们申请救援。印度红十字会把王琪从中印边界带到印度军营，途中王琪看到中国红十会的救援车，但正当他向中国红十字会救援车呼喊之时，印方人员却捂住他的嘴。
另据《环球时报》，当时王琪请假出营地游玩，却误入附近森林迷路，由于附近森林虎狼出没，王琪向遇到的一辆印度红十字会的汽车求救。王琪当时认为，中印战争已经结束，中国释放了大批印度战俘，印度也会把他送回中国。
后来，印度军方人员把他送到德里，并以“间谍罪”的名义在旁遮普关押他七年之久，期间对他进行拷打询问。直到1969年当地法院下令释放他。自此，王琪失去了与家人的之间的联系。

1969年，印度政府通过欺骗的方式把王琪带到中央邦一个偏僻的农村，从此他在“活监狱”中开始以种种方式寻求自己的回国之路。
据《环球时报》报道，1969年监押结束后，印度政府问王琪接下来怎么办，王琪说回国，印度政府告诉他几天后送其回国。但实际上，王琪却被送到了中央邦蒂罗迪村。蒂罗迪村位于一个铁矿山附近，印度政府的异己分子、中国士兵、巴基斯坦和孟加拉等国的回归人员，都安置在这里。在当时，蒂罗迪村就是一个流放各种人的地方，四周是湖泊和森林，出去的路被封死，四周一片荒凉。
王琪起先在当地的一家面粉厂工作，并与当地的一名女子结婚。婚后，王琪与爱人抚育了4名孩子，并且学会了印地语。期间，王琪通过书信的形式向印度各级政府寻求帮助。但当时印度政府对他的书信严加管控，以致数万封信件石沉大海。

在当地生活期间，王琪开办了一个小型店铺。通过自己的智慧和勤劳，他在当地盖起了自己的房屋。
《环球时报》援引王琪讲述，因为想家，有时候哭一晚上枕头都湿透了。当地民众很同情王琪，对他也很好，只是警察经常刁难他，由于开商店时没有行贿，被警察打折了一条腿，记者看到了其腿上的伤疤。由于王琪与当地一名退休高官关系较好，在这名官员的干预下，当地警察局局长被调走，王琪的境况才有了好转。
正当生活步入正轨之时，不幸降临在这个家庭中。28岁的大儿子由于疾病不幸离世，王琪也因为爱子治病花光了所有的积蓄。在经历了白发人送黑发人的痛苦后，他意识到，一定要保持健康的身体才能等到回国之日。从此，他每天早晨五点钟起床开始锻炼身体，并积极与外界交流沟通，通过各种方式寻求帮助。
他仍然继续向印度中央政府和地方政府申请回到中国，但还是一直没有得到答复。

中国驻印使馆帮发护照，但回国卡在获得印度出境许可上

2012年，王琪老人向中国驻印度使馆求助，他表示没有任何身份证明，要求申请中国护照。中国驻印使馆迅速与国内相关部门和亲属核实王琪身份，由于与国内失联久远，经国内相关部门和地方政府反复核实，才确认了王琪的身份。2013年5月，当王琪拿到中国护照那一刻，老人激动万分。
虽然王琪老人有了护照，但要离开印度回国，还需要取得印度出境许可。经记者了解，中国驻印大使馆一直在做印度政府的工作。中国驻印大使罗照辉就此专门与印度中国外交部高级官员联系，要求印方本着人道主义精神，尽快为王琪颁发出境许可，满足老人重回故里的愿望。今年2月4日、大年初八，中国驻印度大使罗照辉向王琪打来电话。罗照辉说，这么多年你流落异国他乡，受了很多苦，很不容易。我代表中国政府和中国大使馆向你表示敬意和慰问！
王琪说，感谢罗大使的关心慰问，感谢祖国和中国使馆派人来家里看望我。街坊邻居、地方官员现在都聚在我家，替我高兴，盼望我尽快回国与亲人团聚。几年前母亲去世时我未能回国，一直心存遗憾，一定要回国看看健在的亲人。在印度的妻子儿女也支持我回国。我已向印度政府明确表示，希望回中国去，越早越好。希望中国政府和中国使馆帮助我尽早回国。

王琪家人：不管他走到哪里，一定陪伴在他身旁
王琪老人告诉记者，由于年纪的原因，他很想尽快能够回归故土。他说，如此焦急等待回家全部离不开一个“情”字。他想在自己的有生之年回到家乡去母亲的墓前祭拜，去看看自己的兄弟姐妹和家中的亲人。更为重要的是，他希望祖国的亲人知道在印度还有亲人，即使自己百年之后，双方也能建立起联系。
