　　据哥伦比亚观察者网站近日报道称，事发后，哥伦比亚大学多文化事务办公室向哥伦比亚大学相关学生组织发出慰问邮件，并承诺进行调查。

　　她解释称，除了那种单音节、中文发音容易的名字可以不用换成英文名。其他情况下，用英文名对对方和自己都是一个方便的举动，也可以避免尴尬。黄晓蕊表示，这其实不是什么坏事，因为美国人，或者其他国家的人讲中国人的名字比较困难，很可能发出来的音谁都听不懂，造成误会或者耽误事。

　　黄晓蕊表示，名字原本只是一个符号，但是哥伦比亚大学这个事件，使得名字的意义上升到了一个民族国家荣誉感的问题。“名牌被撕”这肯定是一个歧视行为。这种针对亚洲人，甚至是中国人的歧视行为虽然不普遍，但是确实存在。

　　“像哥伦比亚大学这次歧视事件还是极少的。绝大部分的美国人、美国学校都是非常友好的。”黄晓蕊称，“这其中有一个不能忽视的原因就是，中国学生普遍优秀，学习能力强，考试能力强，因此会给其他族裔的学生带来很强烈的危机感。尤其在哥伦比亚大学这样世界一流的名校中，能进去的都是最优秀的人才。”
