日前，“广西官员请吃穿山甲”、深圳网民“绽放的多多”微博晒图称食用穿山甲事件引发社会各界强烈关注。舆论普遍反映，买卖食用穿山甲这种濒危物种、国家二级保护动物已触犯法律红线，也折射出穿山甲等野生动物令人忧心的保护现状。

长期参与穿山甲等野生动物保护的志愿者吴越向新华社记者透露，他近日前往广西调查穿山甲非法交易。通过调查，他了解到南宁市区一条小巷里有很多店铺贩卖穿山甲，并通过一个摩的司机找到巷子里的一个商家。商家在旅馆里查看了他的身份证、车票后，才让他看穿山甲实物，最后商家表示可以提供一只穿山甲活体和一只冻体，价格分别为每斤650元和500元，第二天交货。在掌握线索后，吴越立即向当地警方报案。2月11日，南宁市森林公安局根据报案线索，抓获两名犯罪嫌疑人，查获活体及冻体穿山甲各一只。

记者在吴越提到的小巷里看到，多家没有挂牌的铺面标明出售甲鱼等产品。当记者询问是否有穿山甲出售时，有商户警惕地表示“没有”“不懂”。“这些店铺表面上销售乌龟、甲鱼等，但背地里做着贩卖穿山甲的勾当，他们警惕性很高，陌生人独自去问是否有穿山甲卖根本不会搭理。”吴越说。

业内人士指出，受利益驱使，一些不法分子铤而走险，穿山甲等野生动物非法交易逐渐形成了一条地下产业链。同时，为了躲避监管，不法分子在收购、运输、交易等环节也更加警惕，手法更为隐蔽。
