This year's Government work report in 2017, key tasks mentioned in to speed up "artificial intelligence" of technology development and transfer, is one of the need of fostering the growth of new industries.

Artificial intelligence is a new revolution in science and technology, and to inject new vitality into a prolonged slump in the world economy. Last year, a number of key technology advances, is undoubtedly the event in a year in the history of artificial intelligence. Since its birth more than half a century, it finally came from science and technology to the point of application, poised. Numerous studies have shown that traditional artificial intelligence industry business model, industry chain and value chain the comprehensive Subversion, will power the global economy, bring qualitative changes in every aspect of social life.

今年的政府工作报告，在2017年重点工作任务中提到，加快“人工智能”的技术研发和转化，是需要培育壮大的新兴产业之一。

人工智能犹如新的科技革命，为长期低迷的世界经济注入新的活力。去年诸多关键技术突飞猛进，无疑是人工智能发展史上浓墨重彩的一年。诞生半个多世纪以来，它终于走到了从科技研发到行业应用的临界点，蓄势待发。众多研究表明，人工智能对传统行业商业模式、产业链和价值链的全面颠覆，将为全球经济、社会生活的方方面面带来质的变化。

自18世纪工业革命以降，每一次技术革命都重塑着全球竞争格局。中国曾经错失了前几次科技革命的历史机遇，这一次，人工智能是中国绝不能错失的战略机遇。完成中国制造业“从汗水驱动到创新驱动”“从齿轮驱动到智能驱动”的升级，人工智能是中国实现转型升级的战略机遇之一。实际上，人工智能的全球竞赛已经开始，各国政府都在紧锣密鼓地布局行业应用。而在这场分秒必争的竞赛中，中国并不落后。从无人汽车到机器人作业，从医疗看护到育婴保姆，都能看到人工智能的身影。

就百度而言，这几年也做了很多基础性工作。近日，国家批复、百度牵头筹建的深度学习技术及应用国家工程实验室正式揭牌，成为人工智能领域首个国家工程实验室。今年政协会议，我提出了推动人工智能行业应用的建议，比如，希望利用人工智能视觉技术优化红绿灯设计、缓解交通拥堵；用人脸识别技术，尤其是跨年龄人脸识别能力，辅助中国公安部门寻找走失儿童，这项技术也已经比较成熟。

当然，人工智能可以大显身手的领域、场景还有很多。人工智能已经有能力帮我们解决行业发展或社会治理中的一些棘手难题，若能从国家层面加强行业应用，未来人工智能的发展前景必然会更加光明，助力实现提升经济活力、构建国家创新型经济的目标。

在人工智能这场科技浪潮中，中国与其他国家站在同一起跑线上。中国的科学家、工程师、企业家必须全力以赴，让这一次的全球科技创新尽快迈入让我们每个人都激动万分的“中国时刻”。
