3月12日，小军和母亲到山东省滨海公安局基地分局玉苑派出所报警，称小军在玩手机网络游戏时钱被骗走了。原来，3月11日下午，12岁的小军迷上了一款“王者荣耀”的手机网络游戏，他看游戏中的好友英雄皮肤很炫很酷，心想偷偷花钱买一套。后来，小军在游戏中碰到了一个叫“网友手游专卖店”的玩家，说可以给小军提供炫酷的皮肤和装备，但需要小军支付60元钱。小军想想60元钱也不贵，就加了对方为QQ好友，通过妈妈手机QQ红包购买了价值60元的Q币支付给了对方。
但是支付完之后，对方却说系统故障交易不成功，要求小军充值300元作为永久保存金，并承诺会将300元钱退还到小军。涉世未深的小军，完全不知道自己正一步步陷入骗子设下的圈套。随后，骗子又以账号登陆的IP地址不同，要求小军交660元保证金，同时也承诺会全额退还给小军。这时的小军，深信不疑，继续向对方转账。
保证金交了之后，骗子告诉小军IP地址已经验证成功，又以小军的游戏账号异常为由，要求小军完成最后一项程序，再继续充值800元。小军一直以为这些钱都是会全额退回来的，所以继续通过妈妈的手机充值。就在小军完成了所谓的最后一个程序时，贪婪的骗子又以小军长时间未验证为由要求小军最后一次打款验证。而此时，妈妈手机QQ红包上的余额已经不足了。小军怕妈妈责怪，决定向对方要回钱，结果骗子却拉黑了小军QQ。就这样，短短的半个小时不到，小军前前后后向骗子支付了2000元钱，晚上小军才战战兢兢的告诉妈妈被骗的经过，第二天一早，母亲赶紧带着小军向公安机关报案。
