  不过让我印象最深刻的,不是高铁而是农民工们经常坐的普通列车。

  有一次去香港旅行(从北京出发),因为想省点钱,所以决定不坐飞机,准备用自己的那点儿中文试试坐火车去香港。


  我都忘了自己是怎么买到票的了,好像是一个中国朋友帮我在网上买的。因为中文太烂又不好意思请朋友帮忙,我自己读着指南去了火车站。一个巨大的中庭里有上百人在候车,我想我应该是唯一的外国人。我环顾四周想找一张西方面孔,终于找到了!


  等我上了车,我震惊了。它比我想象中的好上万倍,老实说,我还以为它会像泰国和埃及那种上班族坐的火车一样,或者是照片里印度的那种火车。但我发现它比那些先进多了,椅子很舒适,也比美国中产通勤那种火车好多了。这可是你能买到的最廉价的车票,一般是中国比较贫穷的人才坐的。现在我终于知道为什么中国共产党在普通人心目中地位那么高了——因为有这些东西!
