4月2日下午，德宏边防支队执勤官兵正在瑞丽市弄岛镇某公路上进行例行查缉，在对一辆大货车实施边防检查中，发现车上运的是走私玉米，且驾驶员说话支支吾吾，十分可疑，于是对这辆车进行了一个重点检查。
然而，执勤官兵将满载的玉米卸下，并对货物及车辆进行了全面检查后，依然未发现违禁物品。相信自己判断的边防武警战士们随后调来了缉毒犬，在车体和货物处反复检查，果然，发现了问题。
