又一年Google I/O结束了。在过去的三天里，我每天早上都会和几千人一起听完主会场的Keynote，上午再跟几百人一起在炎夏的加州户外排队等待进入分会场的各个小讲座和demo演示，然后再跟另外几十个人分享一块不大的草坪用完午餐，之后在下午重复上午的活动直到晚上六七点钟——这已经不是我参加的第一届I/O了，要说在这场有如户外音乐节的科技大会上度过三天后我有什么最深的感受，我会告诉你：Google I/O不是原来的Google I/O，Google也不是原来的Google了。

我说的并非是大会从旧金山的会议中心室内改到Shoreline公园的户外。让我明确我想表达的意思：如果说去年Google宣布拆分为Alphabet时，人们只能从媒体报道里读出一个大致概念的话，那么这次I/O真的把这两者之间的差别展现的淋漓尽致。

去年8月，Google宣布拆走自己名下多个非商业核心业务，比如宽带服务Fiber、Google X实验室、生命科学和医学类的项目以及智能家居公司Nest等等。它们被重新打包成独立的公司，归属于母公司ALphabet Inc.旗下。而Google留下的则是那些带来了巨大的商业利润，看上去却不那么酷的业务，比如搜索、广告、地图、那一堆Google xxx软件服务、YouTube和Android。

那些已经被拆出去的业务，只有少数一部分在会场的角落里配有一两个桌子和讲解员，大部分都完全缺席了本次I/O。

Nest的展台被包在Android Wear的区域内，只有两个桌子——别忘了这可是两年前Google 32亿美元收购的公司，去年I/O智能家居议题上的明星。

原来归属Google X的气球无线网络计划Project Loon，在这届I/O上说出席了也不是，没出席也不是：它被搁置在会场南端的角落里，由工作人员将它的下端绑在了几个“沙袋”上。但是由于风大，气球下面的太阳能板和其他设备被上面气球带的到处乱撞，没有人管理也没有人讲解，零星有一两个参会者路过，给它拍两张照片就走。它的待遇之冷清，我想如果有人掏出一把手枪将气球打破，五分钟之内也不会有人过来收拾，简直是本次I/O最惨展品。

相比较之下，模块化手机Project ARA的命运就好得多了。同样发布于两年前的这个项目，现在已经发展成熟，被Google正式收入旗下的新硬件部门，由前摩托罗拉移动总裁里克·奥斯特洛监督。它将在明年正式发布消费级的模块化Android手机。然而即便如此，ARA项目仍然没有自己的展台，宣布的内容含在了第三天的“先进技术项目实验室”(ATAP)的环节里，没有进入第一天的Keynote。

这次I/O大会的全部，都与现在这个小Google相关：人工智能、搜索、广告、Android平台和开发者、应用下载、变现和收入；我从来没有这么清晰地意识到，那些让我们激动不已、长远意义上改变人类的技术，比如尖端科技、生命延长、疾病治愈、数字生命等，真正离开了现在这个小Google，留给Alphabet了。

前者现实和脚踏实地，后者则无比前沿，让人憧憬无限。说到底，这是Google I/O，不是Alphabet I/O。我想，这可能是我第一天议程结束后的侧记里表达出失望的原因所在。

但这不一定是坏事。

尽管Google不是当年的Google，但不可否认的是，除了对于聊天软件的执迷不悟，以及在VR上的后知后觉之外，Google仍然有，而且有的是让人意想不到的新科技展示出来。

人们还是能在第三天上午看到ATAP旗下Project Soli(超小型手势感应芯片)、Project Jacquard(智能纤维)和Project ARA这三个项目的进展，堪称这场三天的大会里最让人激动的发布。ATAP从组织架构上仍然属于Google，它可能是被保留下来的，唯一能够刺激Google从微创新的舒适感走出来，去创造完全颠覆人们对现有科技认知的部门。

Project Soli的核心产品是一块比25美分硬币还小的芯片，但Google称它为运动传感雷达。它能够在0.054瓦的极低功率下工作，以18000次/秒的刷新频率感知到面前15米范围内小广度空间内的运动。这项技术在I/O上得到了展示的原因，在于未来Android Wear手表将能够植入这块小芯片，使得智能手表获得触控、语音和按钮/拨盘之外的第四种交互方式：浮空手势——想象在你的手表上安装一块Leap Motion，然后捏合双指就能控制你的手表。

Project Jacquard是去年I/O的明星项目之一。今年服装品牌Levi’s带来了植入这种智能纤维的Commuter Trucker夹克衫。它可以耐水洗和揉搓，从耐受力上几乎和普通的服装没有区别。衣服可以通过蓝牙和手机连接，控制音乐音量、接听电话等等——真正的“可穿戴科技”。

以及ARA。现在的Android设备生态规则是Google向厂商授权使用Android，但除了Nexus项目之外，Google对于厂商生产什么样的设备没有话语权。现在Google认为，ARA给了Google重新定义Android设备生态的一次全新的机会，它将Android最受人欢迎的“高度可定制”特性发挥到了极致。

如果Google也想像苹果那样从软件公司升级成为软硬一体的公司(有足够多的理由可以论证这个猜想)的话，我们会从ARA、Jacquard和Soli的身上，看到这个计划的伟大启航。

再看看Google的领导人。人们称CEO Sundar Pichai为实用主义者，在业务繁多的公司里拽住风筝线，确保所有高飞的风筝不会被吹走或摔到地上的那个人。所有的人物报道都将Pichai视为与思路活跃理想远大的Google创始二人组互补的“第三人”、稳定剂。

但别忘了，Pichai坐到这家公司的CEO位置上最重要的原因，并非他过去的功绩和现在的任务，而是他对Google——当时还没有拆分成Alphabet的这家世界最大最酷互联网科技公司——未来的计划与展望。

我从不担心Google创新的源泉会干枯。一家公司的创始人、发展历程、员工的创造力，以及各条产品线和它们在企业未来发展路径上被赋予的重要性，共同塑造了一个相对稳固，很难被打破的公司文化。

就算这届I/O和往年相比稍显无聊，我仍相信Google会找回曾经的节奏，继续刺激着人们亲眼目睹前沿科技时导致全身激动的那条神经。当然，我期待未来也许会有一个新的“Alphabet I/O”或者“Scrabble”之类的尖端科技大会，但我绝对不会错过Google I/O——说到底，Alphabet还不是Google孕育的？
