First images from new satellite, Google maps more clearly in the eyes of the world-IT information

SpaceView 110摄影机可以通过一种基于镜子的设计将目标放大很多倍,这种设计就像一个超大型望远镜,而不仅仅是一组长焦镜头。它的拍摄精度极高,可以在距离地表617公里的卫星轨道上捕捉到地表最小0.31米的细节。换句话说,它可以清晰拍摄到站在地球表面上的一个人的一只脚。

但是像Google Maps和必应Maps这样的网站主要通过手机应用或网页应用为用户免费提供卫星照片,它们没有资格也没有必要提供最精细的影像。微软苹果Facebook也都是卫星影像的客户。但是并非所有这些公司都会使用卫星照片,谷歌微软以前所用的照片就是从一架高空飞机上拍摄得到的,这种由高空飞机拍摄获得的照片不但分辨率更高而且成本相对低廉一些,但是覆盖的地表面积不大。

SpaceView 110摄影机看到的东西比人眼更多。例如,它可以收集红外线图像,帮助消防队员在浓烟中找到起火点,或者帮助农民检查农作物叶子中的细微变化。

值得一提的是,WorldView-4并不需要等待拍摄目标经过它下方时才能拍摄,它可以利用陀螺仪进行旋转,也可以调整拍摄方向。它还能快速移动,比如它只要20秒的时间就能把拍摄视角从洛杉矶市转移到拉斯维加斯市。
