科幻片=纪录片？
电影改编自2013年Dave Eggers写同名小说，人们可以通过玻璃眼睛SeeChange将错有看到的生活片段实时传输到网络平台上，功效基本与Snapchat的智能录像眼镜、Facebook Live和各类直播平台的一模一样。
小说中的The Circle，就是一个让所有用户上传状态（书中称为zing），分享照片影片和粉丝互动的平台。平台还会给参与者评定等级，不维持一定活跃度的用户将会从排行榜上掉下去，排名成了最严重的社交压力。
作者Eggers也曾经在采访中表示，暂时为在预告片中全部出现的the Circle的三个灵魂人物Eamon Bailey，Tom Senton和Ty Gospondinov的原型，是他从谷歌和Facebook的股东会议上扒下来的。
