Thestreet.com wrote on Thursday, according to data from market research firm CB Insights, since 2001, Alphabet of the parent company Google has completed nearly 200 m. Whether it's YouTube,
Href = "http://Android.iThome.com/" target= "_blank" >Android, Google maps or the latest Smartphone Pixel,Alphabet has been using acquisitions and investments to support existing technologies or developing new business. Acquisition of effective help Alphabet became the global tech industry giants.

But the acquisition is not Alphabet can bear fruit. The company announced on Wednesday, will shut down solar-powered UAV business Titan Aerospace. Thestreet.com founder jimu·kelaimu (Jim Cramer), Alphabet made the decision to cut off the drone program, show that in terms of business feasibility, the company is carrying out its control spending, does not go beyond its boundaries of discipline.

Indeed, as the United States's second-largest listed company by market capitalisation, Alphabet of some major investments actually made huge returns. The company in 2006 for $1.65 billion acquisition of YouTube, their access to the media and entertainment industry. Although the purchase price when look very high, but in the past decade, as YouTube's business continues to grow, the deal has proved to be a very sensible deal. United States Bank analyst in 2015, which had been expected valuation for YouTube alone has more than $70 billion, this valuation than 85% market value of standard and poor's 500 companies are high.

Another success story is the Alphabet in the 2005 acquisition of Android. According to Android later issued annual reports shows that amount was only about $50 million to buy Android. With Android, Google developed its own mobile operating system, and dominate the mobile smart phone market in the world. At present, only Android and Apple's iOS barely able to compete.

But don't expect the Alphabet executives in the short term to reduce new investment in innovation and technology. BI has previously pointed out that back in August 2014, Alphabet since 2011 has spent more than $28 billion acquisition of the 163 companies. Although Alphabet acquisition technique can still see, but it is to be noted that, Alphabet has abandoned part of the acquired assets. Alphabet appeared in the acquisition of some of the following failure:

Slide (2010)

Alphabet Slide in August 2010 for $182 million acquisition of social networking site, to expand your social network and game design skills. Alphabet originally expected Slide Facebook powerful competitors. But Slide game never reaches Alphabet expected height. Bought the company two years later, the closed Slide Alphabet.

Alphabet Technical Director of Dawei·kelaze (David Glazer) on August 6, 2010, has published a blog post saying, "Slide since joining the team, we will increase investment, and make our service culture. We will develop an open, transparent and interesting technology, makes it easy for users to communicate with friends and family, to obtain useful information. ”

Motorola mobility (2011)

Alphabet in the technology industry was taken aback by August 2011, when the company announced a $12.5 billion price to buy Motorola mobile. At the beginning of Motorola, there had been general agreement that Alphabet will enter the consumer electronics industry. But soon, Alphabet in 2014 with a price of us $2.9 billion sale to Motorola mobile Lenovo Group.

Alphabet CEO Larry page (Larry Page) published a blog post saying at Motorola, "Google not only applied to Android with Motorola, but also to increase competition, to provide consumers with accelerated innovation, more choices, and a wonderful experience. These great experiences I would greatly increase the shareholder value with confidence. ”

Motorola on the Alphabet of costly flops, which is believed to greatly overestimate the value of Motorola mobility. Upon completion of the acquisition in three years, Motorola mobility brought billions of dollars of losses to the Alphabet. In the business after the sale to Lenovo hardware, Alphabet retained most of Motorola mobility's patented assets.

Nest Labs (2014)

Alphabet on February 7, 2014 for $3.2 billion acquisition of popular manufacturers of intelligent home devices Nest Labs, hoping the deal into the smart home market.

Alphabet at the time of the 10-K file has said, "we expect this acquisition will enhance the Alphabet's package of products and services, Nest and allowed to continue to innovate in the field of intelligent home devices, so that the company's products reach more users in more countries. ”

Nest in the Alphabet after trading subsidiaries in smart home, but the deal did not bring hoped-for return to the Alphabet. Nest has since experienced several rounds of restructuring, the latest round of restructuring the whole platform Nest team into Google, so as to create a unified Internet platform. Reported that the Nest was acquired after the performance has been poor, 2015 sales income of only US $340 million, not Alphabet to set sales targets.

Titan Aerospace (2014)

Alphabet on April 14, 2014 acquired a start-up company founded only two years Titan. The purpose of acquisition of Titan, is through the design of solar latitude drone to expand Internet services in less developed countries and regions around the world. This project has been tested in multiple areas. Google x-labs will launch a large amount of helium balloons, their mobile communication base stations and ground communications, and Internet access service, the air bags will also be the main service in remote areas of developing countries.

Nest Labs(2014

Titan Aerospace(2014
